ABOUT #FHPWEEK

Forensic Healthcare Practitioner Week (#FHPWeek2025) is a dedicated week-long campaign recognising the essential contributions of forensic healthcare professionals across the UK. Nurses, paramedics, midwives and doctors working in police custody suites and Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) operate at a unique junction of health and justice. Their work safeguards individuals, supports investigations and upholds dignity and fairness in our local communities.

Where Two Worlds Collide: HCPs at the Crossroads of Law & Clinical Practice

3 - 9 November 2025

This year’s theme builds on our 2025 Conference and invites reflection on how healthcare and the justice system intersect in everyday practice. We invite practitioners, colleagues and partner agencies to join us in celebrating the diverse, skilled and dedicated workforce of forensic healthcare.

What we will do during the week

Throughout the week, UKAFNP will:

  • Celebrate the professionalism, compassion and expertise of forensic healthcare practitioners across the UK.
  • Raise awareness of the specialist skills required in this field — including assessment and treatment, safeguarding, substance misuse, documentation and giving evidence.
  • Promote recognition of the value FHPs bring to both healthcare systems and the criminal justice process, especially through independent clinical opinion and evidence-based practice.
  • Share daily messages, insights and resources via our social media platforms and website.
